52-foot-long Guide of the Lifeless papyrus from historic Egypt found at Saqqara

Archaeologists in Egypt have found a 52-foot-long (16 meters) papyrus containing sections from the Guide of the Lifeless. The greater than 2,000-year-old doc was discovered inside a coffin in a tomb south of the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara.

There are numerous texts from The Guide of the Lifeless, and evaluation of the brand new discovering might make clear historic Egyptian funerary traditions. Conservation work is already full, and the papyrus is being translated into Arabic, based on a translated assertion (opens in new tab), which was launched together with an occasion marking Egyptian Archaeologists Day on Jan. 14.
