Why do horses put on footwear?

Horses have been central to human transportation and agriculture for hundreds of years. These symbols of energy and pace require hoof care and new footwear each 4 to 6 weeks to remain on the job. However why?

Horses (Equus caballus) which can be domesticated for human use and selectively bred for efficiency put on footwear as a result of their ft are delicate and due to this fact want safety, stated Dr. Fernanda Camargo (opens in new tab), a veterinarian and equine extension agent on the College of Kentucky. “Sneakers present safety to some areas of the foot of the horse,” Camargo instructed Stay Science in an e-mail. “They stop the hooves from sporting out an excessive amount of, and thus turning into delicate.”
